Be Creative!

When looking for fun activities for seniors, there's no need to reinvent the wheel. An activity doesn't have to be labeled "for seniors" to be enjoyable. Thinking through the things they love most or that they have always dreamed of doing will give you a good starting point in finding the best activities for your loved one’s lifestyle. While exercise may sound like more work than play, it can be great fun or amazing relaxation, depending on the type you choose. There are plenty of types of exercise to try like stretching, water aerobics, walking, yoga or Tai Chi.

Outdoor adventures could allow your active loved one to enjoy the fresh air and blue skies. Summertime is a great time in Alaska to get outside. Some fun activities may include fishing, gardening, or bird-watching.  Outdoor photography is another great way to get activity in while also allowing those creative juices to flow. Simply point, shoot and see the picture.

For those that prefer indoor activities, or simply need something to do on a rainy day, scrapbooking is a great way to organize their treasures. Gathering photos and mementos together in one place is a fun walk down memory lane. Other ideas may include jewelry making, journaling or even writing their own memoir or poetry.

Now is the time to do the things you love. You'll need to do some brainstorming to figure out which activities would make you the happiest, and don't be afraid to explore new things.
